I have the 170 V5, it has a drilled airbox already and sounds great, but i really miss the any engine sound low down.

I have a local powerflow dealership and they have been good in the past, but i dont know what i want.

what are my options

-1.) Hidden TDI style back box

-2.)Tail pipe from backbox coming under rear bumper. If yes, What sort of tail pipe, as i dont want it looking rubbish!

-3.) some sort of cut out? is this possible?

Then what sort of box do i want, as the 20v 2.3 probably could be bloody load which i dont want, just a nice deep sound like i have had on my DERV's...

Any help would be great

Thanks

I'll be sticking with a hidden tail pipe, similar to standard but with the extra sound. I do like looking at the back of the car and not being able to see any pipes at all.

If you do go for a cut out, it really is down to preference. I had a rectangular one on my Vectra, with rounded ends (almost sausage like?). They were common on Golfs when I was looking (2001 ish) and I really liked the look of them. The one thing I can see being a bit of a problem is the undercut of the rear bumper. Its quite big with a shallow angle, and I don't know how much you'd have to remove to get to the exhaust.

I agree with the volume, the V5 can be loud enough as standard! I'd go for a similar volume, but with a straight through baffle to get the low down rumble.

yeah, i agree has to be tdi style, far too much effort for piping and keps it sleeper style.

I haven't actually looked at the system, what does it comprise of? so would i be replacing the back box to a more free flowing one, or taking out a middle box and replacing with straight pipe?
