I've read about how the cars now tend to limit performance for the first 1000/few thousand miles, such that the engine's run it properly. My car's just hit 10,000 miles and running in Cupra mode the other day I was adamant the exhaust was louder than it's been before. 2-3000rpm is usually the sweet spot for lift off pops & bangs, but it was banging after hard acceleration at higher revs, and sounded (IMO) much louder than previously. Is there any science behind this? Or is this pure coincidence now that the car is well and truly run in?!
