Exhaust blow and engine light

Hi all,

cars developed a new problem :(

about 2 weeks ago I had a resonated centre section fitted to my 3" cobra turbo back as it was a little loud. before It went in to be fitted I told them the exhaust was blowing from where the backbox joins onto the centre section they said when they fit the new section they will have to replace the gasket anyway so they did this and the blow went but they said I seem to have a minor blow around the front of the car but they cant pinpoint it without taking the car apart so I left due to lack of funds, after a few days its getting irritating! I don't believe its anything they have done its probably been there the whole time but now all the leaks have been fixed and the exhaust is somewhat quieter its making the blow at the front sound louder and worse! and now im getting exhaust fumes enter the cabin if I have the heaters on!

you can really hear the turbo noise a lot more and when you first start up in the morning on choke the blow is worse then after a few minutes it will go quieter
so im thinking:
*cracked manifold
*loose manifold/gasket
*turbo to manifold gasket
*downpipe

does anyone know what its likely to be?

had a little look under the bonnet yesterday to see if I could see any obvious leaks and I couldn't see none. Im planning on getting underneath it Friday aswell to see if anything obvious there.

then today while driving the engine management light comes on.
plugged it in and comes up with

P0136 -
Oxygen O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 2)

P0036 -
Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S2: Heating Circuit: Malfunction / Open Circuit

is this a coincidence these fault codes have come up or is it because I have a blow somewhere within the front of the exhaust system?

Whip the charge pipe off and get a camera down there. Take some pics of the turbo inlet gasket and outlet gasket. If it's blowing from there you should see some evidence of it.

I kind of have a similar sounding problem. The front of mine is quite loud when the SAI kicks in from cold (sounds like a leak). But basically goes silent when the SAI stops. I'm thinking it can't be a leak as such - as the noise isn't constant and doesn't happen at all when I put my foot down...

I was going to check all of the SAI pipes - as I remember when I left the small airbox pipe open ended (when induction kit was fitted) it was similarly noisy, but when I blocked the pipe with my hand, it went quiet. Maybe a split along the pipe? As it is that corrugated plastic stuff......

Anyway, I also had a similar o2 sensor code come up. Turns out I was a little OTT with the exhaust sealing paste and a build up had hardened in the centre section (I'm assuming the restricted gas exit was sending the o2 sensor haywire. Cleared the 'blockage' - problem solved. It's sounds like you had the exhaust done by a garage, so assume it prob isn't a blockage problem - but my two penneth nevertheless

I had my cobra fitted and about 8 weeks later I found out that the gasket between turbo to manifold was cracked and blowing during the fitting of my new Forge actuator. I had no fault codes tho.

Well done dude. I'll be looking at my flange (giggedy) over the weekend then.

Lived just behind the new sports centre for 10 years, but back in Enfield now.
