Excessive tyre wear

I drive an R and I seem to be experiencing excessive tyre wear on the inside edge. Has anyone else experienced this problem because, as you all know, rubber ain't cheap!!

Cheers

Have you had ur wheels aligned? New Rims?? Is it only on the front?? Sounds like your Toeing out mate about £30 to get them realigned!!

I've had them realigned by Seat and they still seem to be wearing on the front. Apparently, the last time it was realigned (about 1-2mths ago) it was seriously out and they spent about a day trying to get it put right. I do quite alot of milage (about 2-3k per month) but it's mostly on motorways so I'm a bit miffed really why hey would be out so quickly. Any idea what the average life span is on rubber for an R?

Not to sure - Depends on tyres. About 12k normal so more motorways. Regardless you alignment is not right if its wearing uneaven.

Toeing in - Wear on the inside
Toeing out - wear on the outside
Over inflated - waer in the center
Under inflated - Wer both inside and out.

Might want to get it checked out again mate. I had this problem on my Civic Hooned a set of toyo's well pissed off !!!

Did you have the tyres changed when you had it realigned? Or was it realigned with the same tyres on as you have now? It could simply be that pre-alignment the tyres were worn down unevenly and since being aligned they are wearing normally, but the inside edge is showing more because of the uneven wear prior to that... if you know what I mean?

I had the tyres changed when it was realigned as they were ever so slightly screwed!!

My car is completely standard at the moment so it wouldn't even be that

I'd be tempted to take it somewhere else to be aligned then. But do a full geometry check, not just tracking. Costs more but if it saves you money on tyres, it's worth it.

Ditto to what Rob said. We do a full geo set up when we do it, full caster, camber and toe check. You can only really adjust the front toe in a standard setup but good to get it check to see where you stand.
