Excessive Pollution warning??

Dude

Guest
My friend owns a Leon, and has today been faced with an "Excessive Pollution" (or similar) warning light on the dash, and it started seriously juddering in 1st/2nd gear and when heavier accelerating.

Any ideas what might be wrong??

Cheers!

Excessive pollution warning light mis interperates itself, its actually an engine warning light. Nothing to do with what you think it would be. Like above, the ecu needs reading for the fault code but probably down to a knackered coil pack!

My light came on at the weekend, it's orange on the middle row on the far right and it looks like an engine, I think it's engine management, although the books says excessive pollution, but then the picture is slightly different. I've noticed my exhaust is on the way out so it might be connected. My cars going into the garage on Saturday so I'll post up what the fault is when I get back.

Cheers for the advice, guys, much appreciated!

Its gone into the garage now, and you were right, it was a coil pack hoodjum.

I've got real worrying problems with my 02 Leon 1.6.

The Excessive Pollution warning light cam on a few months ago, the dealer replaced a faulty EGR valve.

Everything was fine until the light came on again, and the car juddered. Took it straight to the dealer. According to the diagnostic machine it had a map sensor error - the throttle body was also completely carboned up.

My car's done 56,000 miles. I drive about 15,000 miles a year, which consists a mixture of motorway, and town driving.

The really worrying, and annoying thing is, I complained about intermittent engine pinking on numerious occasions.

Does anyone know what may have caused this. As far as petrol goes I've mainly used Super Unleaded, or Optimax.

Has anyone else had the same problem?
