Help!

After a long drive today i stopped the engine for 20mins and then started it up again to go visit friends when i noticed a light on my dash. Says it the book its a 'Diagnisis/Excess of Pollution' light. Also goes on to say it will light up when the ignition is turned on but will then go out. And it will flash if there excessive pollution. Doesnt say anything about it stayin on though!!?

Car seems to be running fine to me . Is there a big problem here? and help will be very apreciated, thanks

i'd be asking for a member near you with a laptop and VAG-COM. unless you have it yourself. could mean a number of things.
dealer diagnostics MAY be expensive, depends on how well you get on with them.
good luck.

btw ,what engine you have will help in spades mate ;)

I had my 03 plate LCR do the same as well as my dad's Mk5 GTI Golf, was worried as i am sure u r 2 mate but it was the type of fuel or so i was told! Apparently some fuels ie BP in my case produce more soot than Shell and can clog the sensor in ur Exhaust, id still get it checked tho.

On a drive today after id went about 20miles it went off , seems like maybe the sensor was possibly clogged up. Id put shell diesel in it a couple of days ago. not sure what was in it before as ive only had it 10 days. Anyways seems alrigh now:funk:

That light is a general warning that something, somewhere is wrong. If the car drives normally with it on, you can normally put it down to a sensor having a funny 5 minutes and giving odd or no readings. If it comes back on again, try and track down a local member with VAG-COM or take it to the nearest Seat dealer. Better safe than sorry :)
