Am I correct in my understanding that reducing the positive offset from ET50 to ET45 would move the wheel 5mm further away from the suspension?

Horton SEAT told me I'd be moving it closer to the suspension causing possible clearance issues. Have I got my offsets mixed up?

The lower the offset number, the more aggressive the stance. So an offset of ET45 will mean the face of the wheels protrude out further from the suspension struts than a wheel with an offset of ET50. This assumes that the ET50 and ET45 wheels are both the same width.

There’s a handy wheel offset calculator on willtheyfit.com. Put the details of your existing wheel / tyre setup and the details of the wheels (plus tyres) that you’re thinking of getting into the calculator an it’ll calculate all the critical differences between your current and new wheel / tyre setup.

Thank you both. This is how I thought it worked but wasn't confident enough to correct the salesperson.
