Interesting demographic assessment - wonder which bracket SCN contributors fall into?

Ah well, good for Alex, a chance to stand on the top step!

I must get my S4 out more and make room for a tank of that stuff, I seem to like to use Esso as my first choice of petrol and Mobil as my first choice of engine oil, but being a Costco member typically means that 4 tank fills out of 5 are Costco's "finest" at a seriously lower cost - well for my wife's 2015 Polo 6C anyway!

Haven’t seen an Esso fuel station around me for ages, if they charge similar prices to the nearest Shell* I’ll stick to momentum99.
*approx 8p per litre higher over supermarket prices per grade.

Momentum was fine until we did logging on my APR Stage 2 Cupra 280 and realised it was pulling lots of timing, 2 tanks of V-Power and logged again was a lot better.

Ahh V Power.
Not used anything else since tried Tecos in my VIXERS. So various VIXERS/MEGGARS and now the Cupra R.

BUT it was 8 p a litre more than std. Then 12p more. Now £1.15 to 1.25. NOW 1.15 to 1.40 Where did that come from BONKERS pricing. oh I get 1p off with Shell GO
ESSO garage on my doorstep with Nectar points nearest Tesco/shell 7 miles away 14 round trip that.s 2 litres!!!

Give ESSO a go then

I would have a 25 mile round trip for Shell and at the extra cost it doesn’t seem worth it, my car is standard tune and asks for 98 ron so seems 99 Tesco keeps it happy, all as expected power on last Dyno run.

My motorbike likes Esso, the nearest station is only 1 mile away. I'll try the new stuff.

Been to the ESSO garage .
YES they stock it, Just BM ignorance [he said he had been away when they installed it [EH]

Good news was instead of 1.24,9 to 1.39,9 ppl it was 1.22,9 ppl so got a tankful and the MRS car too.
Got £10 back for signing up to TOP CASH as a new subscriber. [finishes tonight apparently, just uploaded a receipt from the last week to claim and accepted]

I just put some in my car as it was running on fumes. In the very short drive I had it felt good but all esso fuel has always felt good in my car and I won't get the benefit you cupra peeps get. I try to judge mine more on how smooth the car feels. Oh and its ONLY 11p per litre more. Which is better than most premium fuels. Most are 12p or more in my experience unless its supermarket super/premium fuel.

In all my personal tests I found tescos momentum had a great top end and shell vp better low down torque.
Bp ultimate could not decide. Seemed different every tank.
No idea with ESSO.
So not now, until December

Ooh, Esso joines the 99 club. My previous experience of higher than 95 RON fuels (juding from a 1.0TSI Ibiza and 1.5T Volvo V40) were that Vpower gave 3-4 mpg like for like, Esso 97 gave the smoothest engine, and Momentum, gave neither (maybe as the others say a higher top end, which I didn't explore).
