Morning gents;

Thought this may make a good thread. What would you consider essential mods you have done and what do you drive? Mainly interested in MK5 mods but anything goes. Be good if you could say where you bought your parts too.

I would start the ball rolling but I've done naff all so far.

Bought my Ibiza cupra in July last year currently speaking with AMD tuning near Lakeside Thurrock to see what sort of things they have and the warranty they have with it, They do a stage 1 rolling road remap for 400 pounds and depending on how well the car takes it could possible go up to 210bhp, and boost from the turbo can be adjusted however harsh you want. but the only thing is, is that I want to make my car look good but don't know about warranty and how they will deal with me if something were to go wrong. what car exactly do you have then?

Oh fair enough well I looked at some race springs to lower it and apparently mk1 Ibiza front spoilers fit on the new model, I have wind deflectors that I think were 30 quid from ebay, hopefully that helps your search, but keep me posted if you have found any other things as would be really interested on what you find

Tints, aerial and wind deflectors are cheap and really visually improving mods.

Depends on budget and type of car ofcourse, but taking my own Boc as example I would think these really change the car for the better;

Turbo back exhast - Just makes your driving experience better, makes the car sounds alive. + also good for performance.
ECU tuning - getting a proper map on a dyno will give more power and sometimes better overal drivability instead of the factory treehugger map. combined with the exhaust it will put a smile on your face.
Proper lower set - be it springs(and dampers)/coilvers, a proper lowered car will improve handling, gives the car a better stance, and will remove some of the "old people" compromises that the VAG concern dumps in almost all of their sporty vehicles

For me these are the must haves on any car I've owned, exhaust, ecu, proper lowering set. Because those three things just improve (for me) the driving experience and removes the "everyone should be able to drive our car" compromises the factory has put in.

Whiteline rear arb, upgrades (brake)pads are also a big improvement if you drive fast. +add brake fluid if you do track days.

If you dont like the stock wheels, upgrade them. Matter of taste ofcourse, I have changed the stock wheels on every car I owned, so for me this is almost an essential.

Last but not least, a spoiler or a skirt here and there.

The 1.2 tsi responds well to mapping, so this would be a good start. As for visual mods, as above as well as silver indicators and leds all round. A little black vinyl also looks good on the facelit, either behind the number plate or the lower lip or both.

Cheers for the replys chaps. Good to hear some feedback.

Im thinking of an exhaust system purely for the sound. Car just sounds a bit to flat at the min. Just under £300 from longlife for a full catback.

Ill be lowering it at some point too.

I want the rear windows tinted for sure and maybe do the front. Anyobe reccomend a good company for this?

Like the idea of silver indicators, who stocks these?

I fancy a rear spoiler too, probably get it carbon dipped. Anyone suggest a nice spoiler/supplier?

Going to fit footwell led's.

Not touching mapping purely as its brand new and under warrenty. If it does go back I don't want to have to shell out for a new Ecu after dealer trys getting in and it goes pop.

Quite fancy getting the centre console and door trims dipped too but not sure about effect/colour.

Cheers gents

I use silvatec ones which are made by ultra. I usually just get them in Halfords. If you are doing the side ones you will also need clear lenses as well as the bulbs. I use ones from a 2002 polo. With regards to the center console dipped, you could buy the interior kit from seat, but would need to get it painted to match the gunmetal trim on the rest of the inside.

Change side lights to LED and get HID's or 100w blue light bulbs, paint badges and grill or wrap them, change to the Cree LED reverse light and get a red interior light to match the dials
