ESP light stuck on - will VAG-COM bring up the fault?

I've got an 06 Leon MkII which is (typically) just 2 months out of warranty and the ESP light has been on for the last couple of weeks. I've read on here and other places about is being the ABS pump and worrying comments about £1500 bills.

Question 1: will VAG-COM bring up what the problem actually is, or do I need the car examined in more detail?

Question 2: If answer to above is yes, does anyone have VAG-COM in the Hemel / Watford / Amersham area they could connect to my car for a fee, or should I just go to a dealer?

Not posted on this part of the forum before, so hope I've not broken any rules?!

Comments / help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

And if it shows -brake pressure sensor G201- then you'll need a new abs pump. but if you're friendly with your dealer then they might put in a good will request to seat and try and get it repaired cheaper.

Thanks, Hitcher - thought I'd let you know that I took it into the dealer and it was diagnosed with exactly what you said. Diagnosis £46 then a couple of days wondering about the outcome with the goodwill gesture request.

Best news came today - dealer has spoken to SEAT and they're paying 100% of cost - parts AND labour!

BTW, anyone reading this might be interested to know that a VW dealer service dept told me last week that VW have extended their warranty to 4 years to cove ABS pumps as they've had so many fail. Maybe this is the same for SEAT now, hence the 100% above?

Hey!

Looks like i´m not the only unhappy camper here.

I´ve got 07 Leon FR, which is just 4 months out of warranty and the ESP light came on two days ago...got it diagnosed at the dealer:
- Brake pressure sensor G201 faulty.
Needs to be changed for the whole ABS-unit.

They said that they will do warranty request, after all, my car has done 30 000km.
So, i´m waiting for the info.
Good to know that you had it done as "good will" and that VW has extended their warranty for those pumps as it seems that there are design fault on them.

Wish me luck!
And thanks for the info.
