i know what you mean, i was just trying to say and ibiza 1150kg'ish traveling at 50mph on snow and a rangerover 2800kg'ish traveling in the same conditions the ibiza will stop first as there less force behind it as the inertial force on the 4x4 is much higher so providing similar grip levels ibiza will stop before hand

Yes well its a bit white outside right now and the main road has a natural spring leaking on to it so the cold road surface just acts like a slush maker - nice! Local authority are amazed by my observation that this has only started to happen after they repaired the road - so they salt it heavily, which the spring water just washes away in minutes/hours, then the slush making continues - the really bad news is that this road is on a hill, has steep stonewalled sides and serious bends, keeps me awake in the early morning! So 4X4 and ABS are not going to keep me out of trouble, only luck works (so far).

Well it appears it was 10/10 for Passat 4X4 and 0/10 for Polo with ESP this morning - and that was with a light but complete covering of snow, had been frozen overnight but just melting. When I came back home first this evening, the two lines of melted snow and ice with some brownish rock salt showing all the way up the driveway told its own story!

How do you turn ESP off?

I can only turn of the TCS on mine, and every other Cupra I have seen.
