ESP? Extra Sensory Perception?

I know the traction control button shows up on the dash when its disabled, if the ESP is some sort of safety device wouldn't that come up on the dash aswell?

The ESP (Electronic Stabilty Program)/Traction control etc all works together. When you press the button, a warning light should come on the dashboard warning you its turned off.

Well if i press the button nothing on the dash happens. Ive checked for any fuses blown but nothing. What controls it, could it have been dissabled during a remap or on vag com?

I may be wrong, but I thought the system was an basic function of the ECU, and so if there was any problem with it at all there would be a warning on the dash.

I suppose it could possibly be a faulty switch or connection, possibly blown bulb even?

Does the traction control actually work? If it does then the whole system should work.

I've just had a quick check in my car. When I turn my ignition on the traction control light comes on, then after about a second or so, it goes off. I'm guessing that will be an easy way of knowing whether its something like a blown bulb?

On mine, its a yellow light, with a triangular warning symbol in the middle, with an incomplete circle round it and one end having an arrow point. Its the centre bottom of the light cluster, although that may be different with your car.

I'm also able to disable it without turning the ignition on, although again this may be a subtle difference between TC and ESP...
