Error Codes

My engine management light came on recently in my 2002 cupra. Took it to the garage and was told that I have a miss-fire on cylinders 1 & 2, a knock sensor error and an error on one of the cam sensors but I can't remember exactly what this was.

I'm picking new coil packs up today but the guy at the garage didn't know what the other two errors were

I'm wondering if they will clear once the miss-fire is sorted

they could well clear also as the knock sensor picks up on certain frequencies as far as i remember so the misfires could be causing them.

OK. I've changed my coil packs and I've still got the misfire that still clears once I get to about 1500rpm. At tick over the miss is still there and there is occasionaly a 'cracking' noise.

My brother in law has suggested it might be a faulty earth going to the coils as that is a problem he had on a Nissan 200SX.

I need some help guys, it's doing my head in having the crap shaken out of me at traffic lights!!!1

might sound daft but try changing the plugs.

Changed the plugs in a mis guided attempt at a cheaper fix before changing coil packs.. little did I know how much the plugs would be!!

I'm struggling to understand how it can be so rough (literally making the car shake) at tick over but smooths out a nd pulls like a good 'un under load
