Been reading through some threads but can't find what i'm looking for.
TYo cut a long story short, I had to divert course and hit a curb because some :censored: cut me up off a roundabout. Set back off again and realised the EPC light was illuminated.

No noticable running problems with the car..just wondered what could of brought it up?
Was a bit of a thud when hitting and going over the curb -but thats about it...

I have had the same problem with my ibiza in the past.
Have it looked at ASAP. Will cause more problems and alot of cash to fix.

The EPC light had popped up when i first purchased the car but
it shut off on its own, and the dealer told me that it was nothing to worry
about. About six months later the light popped up again for good! The result, a
burnt out chip on the cars computer that cost a little over 200 euro to
replace. I assumed it was fixed until a week later the light came up again.
During the lighting of the epc light the engine runs very rough until it
reaches 3000rpms. The mechanic was dumbfounded. He contacted the main
dealership awaited an answer for over 3 weeks. In the meantime every 2-3 days I
had to take the car into the dealer so that he could reset the computer and the light can
go off.
To make a long story short Seat never recognized it as being defective, I still own my ibiza and the service center from what they told me replaced the "o" ring seals on the fuel injectors. It seams that they where allowing air to get in screwing up the sensors. The cost of these seals about 3euro!!!! Chip as chips but caused alot of expensive damage.

Please get this looked at, I don't want anyone to go through what I did. Insist that your service center get this sorted before you take possesion of your car.

Here is one Email I recieved from a person with a similar problem:

Hi
I bought a new seat ibiza in may 2002, Since I first got the car the EPC
warning light came on, the car was in and out the garage for a number of
weeks, as they couldn,t fix the problem. They swopped this for another car,
again the EPC light came on after the first week of getting it, I took it
back to the dealer and told them I wasnt accepting the car or another one of
the same model. They agreed to exchange the second car for the Ibiza Sport
model which I eventually got in Sep 2002, however last week, again the EPC
light came on and the car is still in the garage now, they have had my old
cars 7 months now to try and fix the problem and have not succeeded, so I
doubt I will get this one back problem free. Have you had any more luck with
yours? please let me know if you've had any more luck.

Many thanks

And here is another:

Hi
Yes I am going through the problem with the E.P.C light coming on!
I have had the car for about 3 weeks now and every 3-4 days the epc light
comes on.
Have you found out what the problem was?
my model is a 1.4 sport 100bhp 2003 model
I have to keep going back to the dealer to have it turned off,
but when it does come on the engine runs a bit rough!?!
I have been back to them today and they are going to contact
seat to see what the problem is as it is not in there repair manual.

Others have had similar problems but Seat has not recognized this. Well at least not here in Greece. My ibiza started suffering severe problems right after its waranty was over so I paid out of pocket. Not that I didn't try to get Seat to cover the cost, but no such luck.

Dunno if it'll help

When I first got my Cupra I got the EPC light on and off and, later, the Handbrake occasionally..

Two problems:
1) Oil in the Powersteering was low (later developed a leak and needed a replacement)

2) Brake fluid was low...

Maybe nothing, but just so you know..
