EPC Warning Light

Hi folks,

New to all this so forgive me. My indicators and hazards were blowing fuses on me recently. Traced it down to an exposed wire behind the left indicator. Had to take the battery out though to get in at it. After reconnecting everything I have an EPC warning light in my dash. I understand this is Electronic Power Control so I assume it is something to do with the battery coming out. From searching around the net I believe a common problem that causes the EPC to alarm is the brake light switch, but brake lights are working fine.

Just looking for any ideas or inspiration.

Cheers,
Ste.

yup its either the resistance of the switch itself or the clutch switch has popped out of it's holder(common)

Certainly doesn't seem to be any issues with the acceleration anyway.

Goble, so what am I looking for.... I'm sure the dislodged clutch switch is easy enough to spot but how do i go about checking the brake switch?

remove fusebox cover, remove 3x philips screws, remove tray and look up at the pedals to see if its fallen out, if it hasnt get the fault code checked and 9 times out of 10 its the brakelight switch fit another on clear the code job done:)

strange how that popped out after he disconnected the battery though.

Steodel - It could be many things mate, generally it is the brake light sensor/switch, it could also be on the clutch pedal. I have had this light come on twice... once was the engine speed sensor, this made the car not rev past 3k. the other is the problem I have now and thats from the engine coolant sensor.

If the switchs are in tact, get some one with a diagnostics cable (VAG-COM) to check it out for ya.
