Well chaps this might be a bit of a shot in the dark buttttt...

My 'EPC' light come on in my 07 leon cupra before on the way home from work, I lost all power, no boost, no nothing but I could still drive but I pulled over to the side of the road waited 10 seconds turned the engine off.
Waited a minute turned it back on again and there was no 'EPC' light on and my car had regained power and started driving how it should...

The car was at 70 Degrees on the gauge, in 6th gear, cruise control at 50mph. since then I've let the car cool right down and then drove it back up to temp again doing the same as before and I've had no warning lights come up

Now my question is has anyone had this before? could it be a false alarm or could i have a genuine problem with the car? I fitted a BMC panel filter 3 days ago, but since then ive done 200+ miles so i doubt this could be a problem?

I'm only asking as I've only had the car just over a week and I don't have a clue about them cupra's...

any help appreciated

find someone in your area with VCDS and get them the scan for fault codes. If its put a light on the dash, it must have been something reasonable serious to put the car in limp mode.

I don't know anyone with a fault code reader so I'm going to have to go to a a garage to get the code read unfortunately.

I was just wondering if anybody had any idea of what it may be? even though there's probably 1000 things it could be...

My Leon FR had this. Turned out to be Position Sensor. Sone people say it's the pedal or throttle body. I had my pedal and throttle body looked at and nothing wrong with either.

Some one on here recommended spraying ECC on the throttle body circuit. But I've yet to do this as it's been driving for 1000 miles with no problem.

But definitely get it scanned for codes mate

ECC? What's that mate?

And I am going to get it scanned tomorrow hopefully. It's still under warranty from a 'private' dealer but he's 70 miles away so I can't really be bothered to take it back to him if it's something reasonably cheap

Haha. That's terrible. My mates an Auto Spark so I can get some haha. But I've been tod to be really careful as you have to put it on the throttle body part. This has small parts that are supposedly prone to fall out. So do it somewhere where the parts that may fall out aren't going to get lost

That's what's annoying me too mate. I've got a triple r splitter to fit plus I'm getting coil overs to go on it too haha. I'm lucky I have a fully equipped heated garage to work on my car

Now that's annoying, I used to have a garage but 10 years ago my dad decided to put another bedroom behind it. It's now a just a space just big enough for a toolbox and a bike to fit in with a garage door on it.

I was thinking of coilovers or springs for my cupra but I've f*cking had enough of being Un comfy for a bit. It's nice to drive something smooth at the moment even if it doesn't stand out from the crowd lol

May be worth getting yourself a little cheap fault code reader off EBay, (OBDII reader) I had an EPC fault but it was an internal checksum error due to the remap not installing properly, which was fixed by having the map redone.

I don't think yours is a map issue, although if you own a Cupra it's definitely worthwhile doing to get a nice big power jump, but just be warned it's a slippery slope, as you'll want more and more, and end up at stage 2+ lol

I'm happy with the power at the moment having just come from a 120bhp MG ZR lol. Defiantly on the cards this year though.

Need to get whatever this fault is sorted out first!

We'll the EPC light has stayed off since last time, however my headlights bulbs are stopping individually and the 'bulb out' light is coming on. They stay off for a day or two and then come back on. There is moisture inside my drivers side headlight, a lot of it, I, wondering weather this could be causing the bulbs to stop every now and again?

Well the lights came back on my car yesterday. Bloody pain in the ar$e. Got AA to check and clear codes. All was fine then came on again tonight.

AA man said is was a wiring fault yet I've had my throttle wires checked and all okay. So I'm now thinking it's the throttle body as that has been replaced before. So that's my next port of call.

I'll put the codes and reasons the AA guy gave me up tomorrow as they are in car

Well, after me thinking that everything was ok now after another 300ish miles of normal driving. However the car has just fully **** it's self and gone into limp mode on the way to work (great start to the day).

Now the EPC, traction control and the engine fault warning lights are on and won't clear if I stop and start the engine. So it's going to have to go to a garage to get checked over properly now... Can't wait for the bill for this
