Guys, my EPC light has just come on my cupra. I've done a couple of searches about possible remedies, but I'm about 30 miles from home, can I drive back with it on or is it best not to.

I've not got my laptop with me to diagnose what the problem is either.

Should I call the RAC and get a lift home with them?

Have you replaced your clutch pedal at all/ It may be that the pedal sensor is slightly out of line. mine did it after my clutch pedal was replaced. try tapping the brake pedal a few times whilst the car is running to extinguish the light.

I don't even know why you people are guessing what the problem is that his light turned on?? It could be hundreds of things...

get it on vagcom or explain what the car is doing different ie boost, idling etc

Right,

Got it home safely and i had no further problems while journeying home.

Today is the first opportunity i've had to get it on VAG-COM and got the following code:

17947 - Clutch Pedal Switch (F36): Implausible Signal
P1539 - 35-00 - -

In the short term i have cleared the code down so if anyone knows what that means or has had this before then i'd be grateful for a little advice, in the meantime i'm going to search the forum and the web to see what i can dig up.

Right on closer inspection it turns out that the white clutch switch has come loose from the pedal.

I've no problem screwing it back in but i have one basic question which is:

How far do i screw it in, does it make a difference?
