Light came on this morning and went into limp mode so pulled over and turned engine off and restarted and now seems fine so my question is whas it a glitch or sign something might be on its way out ? It also displayed a triangle and 6150 rpm which I assume meant it wouldn’t rev beyond that. It’s a 1.8 fr

EPC Light is sometimes the turbo actuator. If its gone you may be ok but worth getting it scanned to check the code.
really need to get it scanned and hopefully the fault code read.

I scanned my car the other day. I've had no EPC light. But apparently I have a couple of errors stored for the cruise control from a fortnight ago. And some warnings from the evap system. The light only comes on when the errors pass a threshold. The ECU is designed to collect and total up errors and then decide when it's too much of an issue. So not to make you as paranoid as I am. But, a "normal" functioning car will be throwing errors, adjusting and correcting all the time. But it's the ECUs job to handle them where possible and make sure it doesn't worry you or affect your driving experience.
The same thing happened mine, I didn't scan it an drove on for about 4 months then the turbo actuator went.
I wouldn't worry to much if the lights off, the car will tell you if something is wrong when the light comes on again.
That's a way of letting you know not to go back to them as they do not know even the very basics of fault codes.
They're kept precisely so diagnosis is possible!
Find someone with VCDS, or you need to take it to a Seat dealer, or preferably, a VAG specialist.
