[Posted this on SCC but that forum seams dead now]

My first mods where going to be simple things while I save up for some new alloys or Exhast/Air Filter. I have got some new red edged matts which go nicly with the colour scheme of the inside of the car, I will get a better picture at the weekend, but the one I have at the minute shows it ok.

I have orderd some new hoses and just awaiting their arrivle so I can fit them at the weekend, but Sunday just gone, I got out the cleaning tools, and some spray paint I got and started work on some simple bits to make sure it looked ok in real life.

The only pre picture is this one, but its got a plate still in it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/1milefromnothing/273407976/

Unfortuantly, I didnt take a befor, but I am sure most of you know the inside of a Mk4 beeza, or simular, here is an overview though of what I have done. Its not much, but my first spray job...or first car I am modding actually, so I took it slowly and got familular with the engine. http://www.flickr.com/photos/1milefromnothing/291810882/

Looking at that photo, 2 things stand out, the cap and the battery cover, ok so its not much, but this weekend a lot more will be done, and I had to clean all that metal which did take along time with a wire brush and cloth.

This first picture is off my new mats, although I will get a better picture this weekend. http://www.flickr.com/photos/1milefromnothing/291813058/

This picture is of the sprayed cap, it was very simple to do and I love it. I am going to do the windscreen waser cap at the weekend also. Sorry its a bit blury, I will get the better camera at the weekend. http://www.flickr.com/photos/1milefromnothing/291810900/

My last picture, shows things from a different angle. http://www.flickr.com/photos/1milefromnothing/291810902/

My plans, fit some new hoses at the weekend which will replace most of the black ones in there, fit a new air filter, its a red round one I managed to get for a tenner as my friend replaced his. It will do untill I get a pannel, I dont know if its better then that box one, but even its same performance, it will look alot better. I am also going to fit a samco hose from turbo into air filter box aswell. I still need to spray the rockerhead cover and the windscreen washer cap. When those 2 are done I think it will look ALOT better. Also need to shine up the metal some more. All in all, after this weekend if the hoses come, it will look alot better, and I have mostly completed my first modification, if only small.

The blue I used is a perlescent blue and I used 2 types of sandpaper, grey primer, blue perlecent spray, the some laqure to finish.

Comments please, although I know the batt cover looks a bit out of place just bit blue bit in a black engine but once alot more is sprayed it wont just be a loner piece of different coloured plastic. But please comment, although you can save the "whats the point you never see it" comments, I've heard them all already :p. Please feel free to view the body pics in my flickr account aswell, I think my paint work is good aswell, damn shiny ...although its getting some more work this weekend aswell!

I think a red engine wouldn't look very good because the whole outside is red, I just think it would be too much red for my liking
