this problem does not affect the performance of the vehicle at all, i have a ibiza FR 1.9 tdi pd130, the car was in a crash prior to me purchasing, so that must be when this fault came along.

when i turn the key to turn the engine off, it imediatly turns off the engine, there is no delay at all, iv seen other pd130 and they turn off nice and calm. on mine soon as the key is turned the engines off!!! from what iv looked into it could be the anti-shudder valve, but i could be wrong.

any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like perfect operation of the anti-shudder valve to me.

I would be far more concerned if it DID NOT shut off imediately.

If there is a clunk I would sugest that the accident has damaged an engine mount. Does your engine rock back and forwards more than say half an inch when reved up in neutral?

yes, i think the engine mount was damaged, more the gear box mount i think its called, as on idle sometimes it will nock like metal clunking sounds. could be that making the clunk at the end, so im deffinatly getting it changed think its about 60 quid for the gear box mount.

still think the engine turns off too fast though? any other ideas?

It should shut down immediately, every diesel does the same, come to think of it every petrol does the same. You turn the key to off and the engine should shut off immediately.

having looked into this my engine does indeed shut down smoothly...not a literal key off then clunk, it still only takes 1 second though. as above i'd assume the collision has done more damage than was visible

yes, as youv described my mates polo turns off smoothly, whereas mine turns off straight away, and i also still have the engine light on for the fault code of spark plugs? might have something to do with it.

diesels have glow plugs not spark plugs ;)

but i doubt that would be the reason
