Hi Guys, at work currently so unable to look thro manual, so wonder if tdi owners can help.

Started car this morning, bit sluggish due to temperature (0 degrees) dash beeped, checked and the outside temperature gauge showed snow flake and 0.0. not a problem.

However engine temperature light was flashing red, which was cause for concern.

All sounded and felt fine. Stopped engine and restarted, did not re-occur.

Any ideas what this could be warning me about ?

Have driven to work and temperature in cabin increased as did engine gauge temp.

just been to give car a once over and appears fine, coolant level/oil, no visible leaks ?

started up fine, so any thoughts

cheers

Starting routine as follows, turn key until dash lights come on, wait a moment (hear system pressurise) and then turn the key to enagage starter and fire her up.

Got into the habit from previous oil burner of turning key, waiting for glow plugs to warm, glow plug light to go out and then start. so have never inserted key and turn all the way to start immediately.

The engine temp light normally lights up and then goes out (after diag check i guess) almost immediately, just this time got the beep and the light flashing after having started.

It been covered loads. It's to do with the 2 metal 'sensors' in the coolant bottle. Use a long flat bladed screwdriver and scrape the muck/sh!te off of them. I had the same prob but cleanong the metal strips it stopped.

some may say lala land....
do a search on three beeps and will find all you need, and yes a scrap of the metal prongs will fix it.
had this on mine and did a clean, not seen nor heard since.

mods should sticky a thread, but seeing as about 20 a week appear when it colds could be difficult to work out which is best...
