Engine sometimes act's as if being restricted and won't rev over 3k

Quick Fix

Hi,

I have a W Reg 1.4 Ibiza Vibe, the problem i'm having is that every now and then the engine seems to restrict and won't rev over 3k rpm no matter how much i put my foot down, then turning it off then on again sometimes clears it then after a while it does it again.

Can anyone please help me?

Thanks

Ok is that expensive or does it depend what faults come up?

No theres no EML light on. What part failure's cause it to go in limp mode?

I got it checked the other day, it come up with Engine RPM sensor, Coolant Temp Sensor and MAP sensor but the guy said the MAP may only be there because of the Engine RPM sensor is broke.

I spoke to SEAT and they could not determine which rpm sensor it is, as it could be one of three and have quoted me for the expensive one which is 64+Vat and two hours labour plus 20% old car discount bringing the total bill to £302.

I think i may sell this one and maybe buy another one.

no no no. speak with some one in your area and get to vagcom it for you. this way you wont get r*p*d by the dealers. im betting its not that and maybe something easier.

Even if it is what they say it is theres a chance you could source the parts from other places and get it done much cheaper than at the stealers

I had it checked by an independant garage and i read what came up on the screen and those are the things that came up, i know i can fit the MAP sensor if it needs it but that sensor is still about 150.

When i spoke to SEAT i give them their dues as they did say if i can find someone more locally who can take the part out and identify it, then to phone them and order the right part. It all depends if it's in the block or whether it's by the pulley's. The one in the block is the expensive one.

I'm jus getting the gut feeling to get rid and count loses and move onto the next project.
