Engine Rattle

Rite, things are going from bad to worse! After changing the air filter on my ibiza I have an annoying rattle everytime the revs reach 2000rpm.
I took the whole airbox off and no rattle, then put all the bits back seperate, and no rattle. Then when it was all reassembled again it was back!!
Anyone have any ideas?

HeatShield maybe, mine has something similar not when i stick my foot on the gas but when i take it off. Definately seems to be around 2000rpm aswell

Hmm where abouts is that? I got a rattle on my exhaust heat shield half way down the car, but thats different to this new engine rattle

ah right in that case i dunno, mine sounds like its coming from the engine bay and i just presumed that to be the headshield around the manifold.. Suppose i should actually check tho but its DAMN cold.

Its only been since the air filter was changed, but thinking about it that same weekend my dad said he check my plugs for me when he got bored. I wonder if that has something to do with it hmm......

heh yeh im liking that picture aswell makes me feel all horny but thats summit id rather not get into right now.. back to the rattle

If he changed the plugs have you checked to make sure he hasnt left a socket set under the hood or summit

Ahh this rattle still hasnt gone away, Ive tried everything, refitting the air box, taping up the air feed to the box - still get a resonating vibration at 2200rpm. My dad rekons it could be something in car or where the heater chanel/matrix. All i know is that its exactly 30mph and 50mph revs. I cant take it anymore, making me hate my Ibiza. Anyone? please?

is the rubber bush still present on the bottom of the airbox? open the bonnet and rev the car, get someone to listen for the noise at the given revs.

thanks for that dude. Will have to get it all to pieces again the start of next week and take it from there. Really is doing my head in, can even hear it over the stereo when it gets really bad

are you sure its not your exhaust.? Ive had bare trouble with mine vibrating on the support brackets that run underneath the car..

Yeah cheers dude, but I am pretty sure that my exhaust rattle is something different. That happens at low revs too, usually when im turning right hmm? But thats from the middle of the car, roughly under the handbrake/ central. This is deff from in front of me and only apparent after a service. Thanks all the same. When i get back from uni at easter its going back in for cam belt cos im on 59800 miles now. So have to get them to see what they can do about the exhaust and the other rattle if i cant sort it.

my 16v rattles, i cant deside whether its heat shield/exhaust or the valve train.. but wotever it goes like stink
