JS, it's not run of the mill silicone sealant mate, VAG use "strawberry jam" anaerobic sealant similar to Saab. It may look similar but it's chemical makeup is very different. Wouldn't want an scn member trying to refit their sump with the wrong stuff after reading this thread.

Many would say (I wouldn't) that Millers is a lesser brand. I've always used Millers XFE-PD in my diesels, I think its great stuff but I don't think any of millers oils are necessarily better than the likes of Comma, Valvoline, Fuchs etc just because they have a Millers sticker on the bottle. There is very little difference if any, in their composition. Fuchs and Comma especially have an outstanding reputation, better than Millers outside of VAG circles. We use Fuchs oil in the guise of NATO designation OMD90 in our Warrior AFV engines which are upwards of £100k each, its not used because its cr*p oil.

Woo glad I bought a gallon of Comma High performance oil to go in my upcoming service then

Wasn't too sure it would be good stuff at first as it was relatively cheap from a vag parts specialist I went to.

I think all manufacturers claim to have their own brand of "special" silicon sealant, which is pricey and woo behold anyone who uses anything else on their sumps :)

Well got the results back for blow by (figured out by the amount of nitrates in the oil.

I'm happy to say there are none so according to my oil analysis my 92,000 miles 2003 LCR is no worse off after being driven hard all this time.
Goes to show what a difference a good oil and regular services makes, well worth the money in my book
