Hi guys just a quick question for you people in the know.

I have had a bran new engine installed in my car due to the other one having a fault with the valves, the piston hit the bottom of the valve and disentergated (sp), i am due to pick it up tom after the mechanic put the clutch in the wrong way round

So really what im asking is, i know every engine have it's own serial number, but can you have duplicate engines that seat would keep in stock (unlikely i know), as i have a funny feeling that they may of just rebuilt the engine instead and tried to say its a new engine!!

So, if its a new engine will it be a new engine number that i would have to register with the DVLA

Or

Would it be the same code and the dealer may of swapped over the serial numbers etc etc

Knowledge here would be grateful :help: :help:

Many thank's

Rob

They Normaly Come Stamped With The Code And Number On Them E.g If It Was A Bam Unit That Was In There Then It Would Of Been A Bam Ordered And Fitted, just Ask To See The Old Parts And If There Not Exchange Keep Them:)

Ok cheers ben we'll see what happens, they told me to come back in 1000 miles so they can look over it and then confirm its been a new engine and put it in my service book or something!!

Stu was a quick turnabout i phoned them up asking for progress report and a loan car and the guys says.. sorry you cant have a loan car, so i was like annoyed and ready to say something, then he turns around and says it'll be ready in half an hour :funk: :funk:

Gaz, you would of thought it would of been good to have the stretch mobile back on road wouldn't you???
Well picked it up from garage got at least a whole 1/8 of a mile, engine management light comes on car starts to stutter and running on 3 again, [:@] so i brown my pants as this is what happened last time when it went bang

Brought it back and bloke goes well it could be a coilpack thats failing under load, (a previous phone call i said there was a coilpack failed, thanx to ben) so either they didnt check it or didnt realise

Anyway im back in the V6 Red ibiza, (well really its a 1.2 but sounds wicked at 5000rpm :headhurt: ) till tommorrow so i'll see what happens then...

Glad to see you got it all sorted under warranty stretch, bet that was a bit of a relife for you wasnt it :D as for sticking the clutch in the wrong way around :wtf: how can you? one side of the drive plate says FLYWHEEL SIDE on it, and the cover can only be bolted up one way, it does make you wonder what type of monkies they have working there sometimes doesnt it
