Hey,
Was waiting for food in a drive-thru and the engine temp went up to around 110 degrees c and a red light started flashing. When I drove off the temperature went back down to normal. Is this to be expected?? Or maybe I should check for signs of something wrong?

Thanks all.

When I'm driving it's fine, but the fans didn't come on. Is it the fan switch I need replacing then? Thanks

I recently put some anti-freeze in the coolant and the level is now about a cm above the middle marker. Is this OK?

sounds like a water pump, take coolant cap of and let the car idle, there will be a flow of water? then slowly increase the revs the water will slow and stop if so its new pump time.

i think its safe to say its the fans then.....if you got a multi meter try 'bridging' the wires on the connectors to the fans... if thers a voltage then check the switchs...if all is well and they still aint comin on try removing all the connections on the fan/switches and cleanin em... if not change the switches....shouldnt be too much bother for you.... its common on most cars... usually the switches or bad connections

doubt its water pump, car will be fine at idle even with your water pump in bits, if it getting hot at higher rpm such as motorway driving good chance water pump is away. i would check out the fans if it just at idle

By the end of this year I aim to get this car ship-shape. I am hoping that a new abs ring and new radiator switch will be the end to all my worries as it's such a lovely car to drive otherwise and does turn heads.
