I've just got a set of 3 second hand vibero teck engine mounts, can some one do me a small fitting guide please?

What tools, equipment hints and tips.
I've got access to a pit, axle stands and a trolly jack.
From some pics I've seen it looks like you need to hold the engine from above and take out a suport bar from the bottom, is this true?
Is there anything else worth putting in/changing wile I'm fitting the engine mounts?

Cheers
Olly

i was gonna have them mounts if you didnt send the cheque to andy

he didnt think you still wanted them and said i could have them but then found out you wanted um still...what a tease!

think you need a 12mm spanner, 17mm socket, 8mm allen key and a jack

that off the top of my head

Based on my 16v wich isnt alot different

Front one is a peice of cake, undo the bolts and jack up the bottom of the engine just enough to get the old mount out and the new one in.

Rear ones slightly more difficult becuase of space constraints, support the bottom of the engine again and unbolt anything thats in the way, i think the bracke on the engine side needs to come off to gain access - same with the gearbox side too

On lining up the bolt holes as the threaded alluminium is soft and with crossthread if your not carefull, you have forward & back adjustment on the front mount to get the allignment if needed.

if your running a non standard downpipe/cat you'll find the right rear one is fun as space is a little tight

gearbox side is easier with strut brace removed :)

and watch the threads as Stu says

I asked if they were for sale he said yes and i posted the cheque the next day IIRC oh well mine now :p

I've got a 3" DP so that'll have to come off then DOH.
So for all of them i just need to take the waight of the engine not lift it up as such.
So if i put the front of the car on axle stands and took both front wheels and disc/brake (engine side) off then put a jack under the engine just to take the waight and did one at a time using spaners and allen keys.
That easy ;)

i think you can get away with the downpipe (mine was off as i was fitting the bf at the same time)

the hardest part is getting the old one out as it's huge compared to the vt one, i had my car on a ramp with an engine support above to take the weight off the engine and just raised and lowered the engine as i needed

i doubt you will need to remove DP.
do one at a time, start the bolts but dont tighten them until all 3 mounts are in place and its sat on them.
