Engine modifications

Hi guys,

I've had my Seat Arosa for nearly 3 years now but it's only a 1.0 and I really want something with a bit more umph. I'd love a Seat Leon but I can't afford it at the moment and was wondering whether anyone had any ideas about how I could make it a bit faster?

My boyfriend is a car-nut and has modified his car and is now looking into getting an engine conversion for his mk2 Golf from a 1.6 to a 2.0 and I was wondering if I could do anything like that to my Arosa. I don't want a huge improvement, maybe 1.3 or 1.4 but just something so that I don't have to sell it.

I'd appreciate any help.
