Hi, was whether anybody had come across the following before: yesterday morning the car was misfiring badly/very lumpy with no power and wouldn't rev over 1.5k (EPC, engine and ABS lights on dashboard was illuminated). In the evening when I came to try it it seemed fine (the engine light was on though). I originally suspected coilpack(s) but on reading the fault codes and the fact it seems to have cured itself must be something different:

After reading/clearing the faults the engine light went out and stayed out and on a test run it seemed to be fine - is this just a freak occurrence or do I need it checking out by a garage?

Anybodies thoughts would be much appreciated! Cheers.

hiya mate ive had exactly the same faults over the last week on my ibiza cupra. very similar symptoms and also like yours running poorly at one time and running ok another time although over the last couple of days it has got worse until yesturday the car just wouldnt rev at all and it idles extremly bad bringing up fault code 17976 mechanical fault in throttle body i have checked the parameters using my diag machine at work to see my throttle body not working so i am having to order a new one although it is possible to remove and give them a good clean which i tried but unfortunatly didnt work.lol just be aware if you have unplugged the throttle body you will need to re configure it hope this helps fella anymore questions dont hesitate to ask cheers

Got a used throttle body from a breaker, no luck, exact same issues. My local independent VW garage later traced the fault to an electrical problem - a large multiwire connection to the back/below the throttle body was a mass of green corrosion, cleaned it up and so far is working. Fingers crossed.
