Engine management options

Just wondering what sort of options are available for the 1.8T engine in terms of management systems. Obviously the popular choice is to use the OE item and upgrade using Revo, CC, etc.

I presume I am right in thinking that unless you are a dealer of the above the average DIY tuner would struggle to get access to the standard ECU to allow adjustment to suit modifications as they are fitted or changed?

Is there a definative unit that people have used with success? I have built, mapped and currently run Megasquirt but am not sure how/if this would work with the VW lump.

Anyone have any info that can help me? I am seriously considering an Ibiza Cupra as my next car but want the flexibilty to map myself.

this can be done with a good good knowledge and the right software. the ecu will obviously need programming. but i am sure you should be able to get a custom ecu set up.

things like the revo st2+ maps have the ability to be tweeked by the user at your own leisure but obviously it depends on how much you kow and how good you are as to the extent you take it

Take it from someone who has been tuning standalones since 2001....with the Ibiza Motronic system you dont NEED standalone.Even 1000hp is reachable on your stock ECU & Harness.

Its not so much the fact that I want to replace the OE ECU just the fact that I want to be able to map it as and when changes are made to the car instead.

What does the Revo ST2 allow for user adjustment? Fuel and spark tables would be ideal.
