engine management light

my engine management light comes on an thn goes off with a few ignition restarts, i notice no miss fire or loss in performance, it is a standard cupra....was wondering if any has had this or knows wht it mite b. it comes on once evey 1000 miles or so....wilst driving thn goes off after a few restarts
