engine management light

hi, went out up ashford the other night, and my car seemed to be workin fine. Then i raced this 21 turbo and my engine management light came up. This happened to me on the way back from southend last weekend but the following day, it went out after a few hours of use. Does anyone know how i can get the light off, and maybe sort the problem out. It makes wonder if its my dumpvalve!?

Engine management light could be something like a sensor not reading or something small happens to must cars if driven hard mine did it and went to dealer plugged it in read it was a air sensor and cleared the fault code wouldn't worry too much if the cars running fine just go to dealers or get someone with vag. com to read fault codes and cleear them.

Limp modes the worst! not happen to the cupra all seems good!

cool, yeh def not in limp mode, my mates old cupra mucked about. He had a revo chip and it really did muck the car up .. are they actually any good, i heard that they make all the software the same, and that every engine is different, like some cupras arn't as fast as other standard cupras .... they don't match the cars statistics or sumin. Which is why i went upto impossible (£500) and it seems loads better ...

Revo isn't a chip, it's a remap. Do tell us more details about the problems your mate had with Revo..........

it had days where the car was really savage ... when like poo of a shovel! But had others where it will be quite a cold night, ideal intercooler weather! and it went back to like how cupras are standard, a 106 gti and fiesta zetec beat us if i remember, which aint good .......

the MAF wont effect your traction control, my guess would be one of the front two ABS sensors, it'll bring on a fault light and will also stop your traction control from working as the system relies on input from these sensors

The reason that the traction control light comes on is that because the management can no longer detect what airflow is going into the engine, it assumes the speed at the wheels is not as expected and (wrongly) deduces the TCS may be faulty.

Do a search if you don't believe me: stacks on the subject.
