Sorry, but as I'm not a native speaker I need your help...

What's the engine ground (definition) and where is located? Is it a part of the engine?

I have to install an oil temperature gauge and I have to install one of the wires ( the black one) in the engine ground.

it should be near the battery. when you look with the hood up on the left of the battery (very close to the battery) you should see a piece of steel like the rail of a train (something close to that) with a piece of black wire atached to it. That is the engine ground (earth or negativ)!
