Engine/exhaust warning light?

Hiya folks,

The little yellow engine-shaped light came on the dash of my mk2 Arosa tonight. According to the handbook, this is an "exhaust warning light".

Aside from that, I'm pretty much clueless to what the smeg is going on?

My Arosa's past its' service date by about 1000 miles, and to be quite honest, I have run her harder than I'd have liked in the past few months.

Any info much appreciated!

Thanx, Andy :)

No, no difference in performance or anything. No obvious smells, smoke - nowt.

The MOT was last August. All the emissions tests were well, well within the parameters.

I took her into my usual mechanic today, and he hooked my Arosa up the computer. Apparently, and I'm sorry I wasn't listening to him as properly as I should, exhaust gases were trapped in the engine. He's cleaned a related component up, and reset the warning light. He told me only running the Arosa will sort out the problem, or possibly hinder it!!!!

Time will tell - but she desperately needs a service!

Ta, Andy :)
