ive spent today cleaning the beast from the erm west :) and i checked my oil and that and i thought damn my engine bay looks like its from the 70's dirty and dark, apart from the orange dizzy cap :)...

so is there anywhere that does stuff, im thinking brackets colour coded vacuum pipes, dipstick ect ect..
i know i can buy HT leads in colours... and the big one is my silver rocker cover, which is bubbling and looks cack.

...OR is it worth buying stuff new and spraying it my self? :)

Telford ay it...
You could get some bits chromed, paint the rocker cover and give it a good clean.

By the way, i saw you yesterday going past newinvention school about 7pm. Look nice and clean then ;)

Is this for a 8v engine or 16v? If its the 16v than you can polish up the inlet manifold a treat :D. AS for other goodies, Samco do "hose kits". They do look sweet, but don't have any advantage for non-turbo cars. And the kit costs about £200. You can also get an OPM strut brace either in red or silver, which could look nice. And Neuspeed do lots of little tart up bits, like caps for the suspension struts, dipsticks, Oil and water caps. All looks great but I think that nothing they do is even below £25.

just get a brillo pad and scrub everything thats meant to be clean clean, and itll look almost polished. scrub with WD-40 to get rid of all the old shite. Buy a 20 pounds, hose cover set from motorworld or whatever and cover the hoses, change all the hose clips for new worm drive clips, shinny ones and change as many of the nuts and bolts as possible with new ones, you can buy a big bag from a cheap version of BnQ... Oh and get rid of all the brackets and stuff you dont need.

...You can also spray bits yourself that dont really do anything like the dizzy cap cover.

if i get some spray in a can, do i have to laquer it or some ****? to stop it melting.. im good with mechanics but i have no idea about body work and paiting it lol :D.. im going at it 2morrow with some worth 2040 ( like wd40 but better ;) ) sourced some blue vacuum pipe as i have a couple of those on my air box, and im wondering if i can use the same silicone vacuum pipe for breathers if it fits.... i looked on ebay for samco kits.. £179 :O lol ive decided i like my standard hoses for that much :D

IMO the engine is the first place to spend money. The photo is of my old 1.4 mono, its old now and i have given up as im awaiting a new car but in the old days i used to clean it up. The rocker cover is very easy to paint or polish so start there. Then add bonnet lifters or paint the bonnet arm!
Go mad:)

it can be well expensive tarting the engine up and making it look right,in my opinion less is always better, clean and subtle mods, a starting point is a nice clean engine bay,get it steam cleaned and dried properly or have a go yourself with some machine cleaner,
heres how ive got mine looking for some ideas,it just depends how far you want to go with it

Oh my god!! I was searching for that picture of your engine bay for weeks. THE best 16v bay I have ever seen. I have managed to polish up my inlet manifold after about 9 hours, but now my right hand is five times bigger than my left.

I do have two questions tho.
1: is that water expansion tank "just" sprayed gloss black with some aerosol cans or is there a lot more to it.
2: Where did you manage to get the shiny induction kit pipe from ?? price??

Cheers
