Hi guys,

Had an s3 upper brace fitting and the standard engine cover fouls on it, not affecting anything but niggles at me.
Soon im getting Blue samco galore going on so my question is......do you all run with your engine covers on?

Im thinking about just removing it and leaving it off, i guess it will help heat escape a wee bit more as well. Dont see the point in buying an aftermarket one really as its not a showpiece car or anything.

You could leave the cover off and get the top part of the engine (cylinder head..??) machine polished for a nice finish....

cheers for the reply chris, not fussed about having it chromed

just fancied checking removing it doesnt have some crazy mystical adverse effects or something??????:)

(i know its a bit of plastic-but stranger things have done little jobs on engines)

One name springs to mind, Robdon. He runs with his cover off all the time.
The cover does nothing other than keep the bits underneath dry and clean (ish) - so feel free to remove and run with it off all the time. However, when i ran without a cover for a while, i had to clean the engine bay more as i was worried about the wires to the coilpacks getting wet, and i found a lot of dirt was getting around the coilpacks etc, so put a cover back on.

Can't see it causing any problems though! Just me being finnicky!

Is that even after you have the Seat bonnet seal on?

yeh :(
Not big bits though, dust, dirt specs, grains of **** that could get through anything.
Comes through the grille etc, annoying but certainly an improvement over a bonnet without a seal!
