Well I thought I would make a direct thread about the engine fans coming on when you start the car. My LC started doing this a couple weeks ago at 1st I noted it down and forgot about it until I saw this thread http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=247496

I have had it about 5 weeks now and we have had cambelt/idle kit, maf sensor, new interior fan fitted although this was suppose to be a centre blower since that was the issue but they have changed the fan "doh".

Anyway it was when the maf sensor played up i noticed it but why is it doing it I take it its NOT normal ?. Do you think the water pump is faulty. It sits at 90 and doesn't get any hotter but then the fans are on so if these were not on it may get hotter ?.

I wouldn't even try to start it today since its all frozen for like 2 days now the cooling fans are most likely to come on making it very cold and don't want to damage nothing :<

What should i do what do you think the problem is ? and would you start your car up frozen with "lots" of ice on it for the last 2 days knowing something could be wrong with it and the cooling fans will come on causing it to get warm slow cant be good for it.

Next time i start her up ill double check but I'm 95% sure they come on when you start up :<

Help much appreciated

Strange I noticed this on my lcr yesterday it's probaly switch sensor on the rad knackerd so the fans just stay on in stead of starting and stopping as temp varies

Seems like i might be wrong as i started her up just 15 mins ago and both fans were off yay. So ill just keep an eye on them for now! i did notice a little frost on my drivers side footwell though. i only just had the door seals done so will have to look under the scuttle panel make sure the drainage is ok :/. nothing on passengers side :D

yup i am sure cos mine sounds like a jet plane lol. :< although it works so they won't fix it under warranty as i have mentioned it before the car read -5 so that did not kick in.

Ill just keep a tab on it need you to have a good look round it adam  its all new to me I'm not sure what's meant to work or how its suppose to is why I'm reading the forums for hrs every day
