Right I have prices from DJM, for fabrications only were looking at £3~4k, for fabrications including exhaust and gearbox but not prep and paint looking at £5~8k. For a full job that they do from start to finish were looking at £10~15k.

They are fully booked till January / February 2008, and will require the car for 8 months onwards.

I'm going down to see them in January 2007 for David to take a better look!

Nuts if you've got money to burn!

I'd rather trade the Coop in for an S3 and drop the difference into tuning that up and keep some sort of resale value.

By the time you've explained what you've done to your insurance company and been through the DVLA testing to prove the thing is roadworthy you'd be in RS6 territory (money wise anyway)

might aswell buy an s3 and spend 10k on the engine

But where's the fun in that? Someone's gotta do this to an Ibiza one day, it'd make the daddy. Anyway, S3's aren't exactly the most exciting of cars are they, and they don't handle that well. Dull, dull, dull springs to mind

And you think the 4x4 Ibiza would be any different? It would have to enherit most it's parts from a Quattro 1.8T like the S3 anyway!

If you where being balls out different I'd turn the engine either 90 degrees and make it an all out all out RWD hoe and use the additional space you've got down the side to plant in a massive turbo or put the 1.8T over the rear axle.. But either way it's quite a short wheel base so will be more than a little bit twitchy!

Isnt there a 4wd A3? surely its gearbox would be the one to use? that and alot of cutting and welding :)

Theres a guy who's put 4x4 mondeo running gear and engine into a Ka. Anything can be done :)

have a look at TRC :) there's a Lupo being fitted with a 1200cc motorbike engine in the boot... proper stripped out & a highly unlikely target of 450kg

Look at the dimensions of the Golf Rallye,25mm difference in wheel base length, couple of mm's in track, weld in the floorpan, use the fuel tank etc.Anything is possible if you have the time & money(was thinking about this route for mine after my son bought a 20vt Rallye, but would need another turbo upgrade due to increased weight).

convert it to right hand drive:)
