Has anyone had the Emergency Brake Assistance kick in on their R???

I was driving along today (as you do in a car ;) ) at about 65 mph and suddenly had to brake hard.

I was suprised to find that nothing different happened (i.e. the car didn't seem to slow any faster)

Is it noticable if it kicks in?? ... Do the Hazard lights flash like on some cars???

I don't even know if mine works so any info would be appricated.

Cheers

I was flying round a large roundabout when some joker decided to pull out in front of me so I had to slam on. Got the ESP thing flashing and a few squeeks from the tyres as the ABS kept them from locking.

Not had to brake mega gard in a straight line although as ABS is part of the ESP system, I would have though the ESP thing would flash on whenever the ABS kicked in???

Thing is though we are generally looking at the road during an emergency situation like that so you don't tend to notice

Can't imagine how it would work. I would expect to be able to tell if it came in. Surely you would get more braking than you were expecting. But then if you are braking hard enough for the ABS to kick in there is no more that the electonics could do.

Need an expert on this one I think.

Anyone!

you won't feel anything extra..........you will think you've done it.

Brake Assist can help reduce stopping distance during emergency maneuvers or "panic" braking. The system is designed to determine if the driver is attempting emergency braking and, if the driver has not stepped hard enough on the brake pedal to engage the ABS, it applies maximum braking power until pedal pressure is released.

ok?

Cheers folks,

I had a feeling it would flash the hazard lights like Citroens do ??

Something to let me know whether it is working or not would be nice though!!

When Mercedes introduced EBA it was susposed to only kick in if you slammed the brakes on (exceeding a certain G force) then backed off them a little, apparently lots of people do that in a real emergency. The system would then re-apply maximum braking force. Unfortunatly they also had a spate or rear end shunts.
