Guys,

My X plate 1.6 Leon recently had the gearbox replaced. It has been running fine up til tonight when going round a corner, the locks started jumping open then locked, the dash lit up like a christmas tree and all electrics were flickering on and off including the engine jumping on and off.

A check under the bonnet found a quick disconnect clip sitting above (i think) the starter motor just above the gearbox. I removed the battery to inspect for broken cable or bad connection, and upon reassembly, all I get on the dash now is the battery light which stays on permanently. There is now nothing electrical working at all.

I wonder if this cable or connection has somehow been affected by the gearbox removal/reinstallation?

Any help appreciated....

Hey, i have a similar problem.. recently i had an engine rebuild due to cam belt failure. Since then my electrics have been playing up, for instance when i put on the headlights the wipers turn on, all dashboard lights turn on. When this happens the indicators don't work nor do most the secondary electrical devices (e.g. Horn, hazards, dipped/beam lighting etc.). Anyone have any insight into to the problem and any recommendations.

Mine ended up being the earth strap as was suggested above. Forgot to post it up though.
