My other half posted up on Astra Owners club about my rebuild of my 2.0l 8v.

Someone put up an interesting post :

"I used to have a 2.0 8v, cracking engine - and great power to sweight, heavy clutch for town though. Also - try pulling the fuse for the elec windows for an interesting result.... you can produce a fuse bypass switch if you are clever (silly question - I know you are clever)"

It's that bit thats interesting - I don't want to pull the fuse out incase it breaks something. It has to do something good otherwise the guy wouldn't of said it. Anyone tried it or know what it does?

Well if he was talking about rear electric windows, you could make them 'child' proof and turn them off... In this case, I can only assume that it either nukes your immobliser or makes the alarm go off or something stupid. Or even worse... the electric windows don't work lol

I have a strange feeling they are have a quick chuckle on that one; I have a work collegue who posts on AOC ALOT and he's the typical 'joker' lol

sorry for being a complete Idiot, but I don't get it? What does it do when you pull the fuse?? I guess it brakes the electric circuit and therefore your windows don't work (just like pulling any other fuse), or what does he mean by "fuse bypass switch"?? Wouldn't that just allow you to blow up your electrics rather then just blowing a fuse:confused:

Maybe its the secret "Auto Windows" feature, so that if you manually lock your car, and you hold the key in the lock position for a little, all the windows shut automatically. I know that even M reg mk3 golfs have that feature, so maybe the Ibiza has as well.

So what are you meant to do then as I'll test it out on my car. Just pull the fuse and then what.......?? press the el. windows switch?? or lock the car??

Try both I suppose.. I can't imagine it would work from the switch in the car.

Might work by holding the manual lock or locking the car by the buttons it might make the windows go up.

x Let us know the out come.

lol

I will be surprised if it does anything :) If the fuse is removed, the circuit is broken and therefore the windows won't go anywhere as there is no power :)

Exactly what I said earlier. Because otherwise there would be no point of having a fuse there if current could flow a different way.

Hayz, I think the best thing to do would be going back on the Astra forum, and send a PM to the guy, asking him exactly what he meant. And how.
