Is there a particular kind of machine you should ue, the one i am looking at borrowing was about £30 from halfords, do you think this sort of machine would be ok? also what product do i use and what pads on it to remve swirls and at what sage of cleaning the car do i do this.

Hi Kev
One of those £30 polishers from halford is not going to have anywhere near the power for swirl removal, especially on a VW which has very hard paint.

You best bet is to find someone locally who can bust those swirls profesionally with the correct tools (Porter Cable 7424) and then work on your wash technique to reduce there re-aplication. It's pretty much impossible to completely stop swirl induction, but you can drasticly reduce it with the correct wash method.

Cheers

Hi Kev

Not a post a take enjoyment in doing but one has to be honest with peeps ;)

No way will a 30 quid polisher ever remove swirls. ever, sorry pal. It doesn't have the grunt to heat up, and beak down the abrasive polish required to smooth the CC out. VAG paint is especially hard when compared to other manufacturers. Removing swirls is a 6 hour job on a Golf /Leon car. The link posted above was a good example. The swirl removing stage of this detail took 2 hours alone :wtf:  :cartman: [:@]

You could remove them by hand, using a MF pad and meguiars scratch X. This will prob take a whole day as a rough guy, and then you will need to polish and wax to shine and protect after that.

If you have any Q's give me a shout[B)]

yes i thought it would be no good just thought i would ask,
iain, just out of interest what do you charge for this swrl removal, i have looked at your website and can see the cost of 3 stage and think this would b needed aswel.

Do you think the scratch x stuff is any good and is it safe to se on the whole car, im always abit wary of what i use on my cars thats why i spnt over £150 a year ago on zymol.
This is why i dont understand where all the swirls come from the worst thing is prob the dealers washing the car which i have put a stop to now. But it did have swirls on from new.

thaks for all the replys
