Hey, I recently cleaned out my EGR valve it was utterly disgusting (might add some pics later ) but I forgot to put the gaskets back on when I reconnected it, is that going to cause me a serious problem? It was a real pain in the arse getting it off and back on again is all...

I'm inclined to say yes, you need them, because those surfaces mate quite cleanly when the engine is cold, but it might not quite be so precise when things heat up.

When it comes to any part of the engine that holds boost, I don't take any chances - I had a single allen bolt loose after cleaning my EGR valve and I didn't have any boost at all under load.

It sucks, I know, having to take it apart and put it back together, but most likely worth the effort in the long term.
