ECU Swap

Hi,

Thinking of swapping my stock ECU for a remapped ECU. Im told the remapped ECU has software which means that they can be swapped without vag-com. Does this make sense?

If not what would I have to do to swap over?

you need a laptop with vagcom loaded onto it and a vagcom cable. the rest is freely available by having a searchy on here.

Thanks, However the owner of the ecu believes the ecu has some software which enables it to be switched over without vagcom. I.e a straight swap. Is this possible? I hear the ecus can be de-immobilised? thanks fred.

sent him over 8 pms as i want the ecu off him and can travel down this weekend but to yet no response.

some ECU's have immo defeat, but it's very rare.

you would want Vag-com handy to avoid a wasted journey

The chap with the ecu tells me it should swap over to my car. If it doesnt swap over and the immobilizer wants to be awkward would i be able to connect my existing ecu and drive away on that? thanks
