Car is totally dead & being told ECU needs replacing (which is what I came to the conclusion to). Quoted £700.
What I can't understand is, google search shows a Seat Leon mk3 ECU for around £50-£100, surely im looking at the wrong thing right?
Why is it so much & do you have to recode the ECU when it's been replaced?
How this happened was my dad messed about with the ignition coils on the car whilst it was running & broke one whilst trying to pull it out, which caused a short circuit & cut off the car.
Car is dead, a turn of the ignition does nothing & engine & EPC light just flash & the fans turn on & dont shut off.
Spent a week trying to see if there was a fuse or something that had burnt because surely there must've been some protection to the ECU, but apparently not. Took it to auto electrician & theyre saying its a ECU replacement job :/
Sad times, any relevant threads/vids or advice would be appreciated during these troublesome times.
I tried scanning the car & these codes came up (attached)
