hey there,

My car needs maintance, nothing special about that. but my regular dealer is closed due too holidays.
I contacted another official Seat dealer nearby and he said he could do it (offcourse..just simple maintance @ 45000km)

BUT i think he tried to rip me off by saying the ecomotive needs 'special ecolowfrictionbullshit oil' (read:more expensive oil)

I can't see what the difference is between a normal TDI (1.4;1.9;2.0 ... diesel) and the 1.4TDI ecomotive, which, as we all know, is the same engine as the normal 1.4tdi (only with the DPF etc...)

I could be wrong, but I would like to hear your opinion about it!

BTW: the oil has be running in the engine for a good 16000km (10k miles) , yes I know it needs to be replaced. But the oil level dropped a bit (about 5mm on the dipstick). Is it normal that the 1.4tdi uses that (little) amount of oil on 10000miles?

thanks in advance,

Paul.

your handbook should give you a VW code of oil that is compatable with your engine. This can be found on the back of all reputable oil company's. I would be inclined to just use that, and then use that for the oil change if you do it yourself.

i change the oil on my car myself everytime that it goes in for a service (and my sisters car for that matter) and they don't even seem to care as long as it has been changed for the correct oil. They even stamp the service book too. :D

Hi there.
You may find as your engine has a DPF that it will require longlife oil even although you are replacing it every 10k. The DPF does not even like PD oil and will possibly bring the engine management light on if anything other than longlife oil is used. Hope this helps.
