EBC ultimax discs

Couple of (probably) silly questions

All the pics i've seen of the ultimax discs have black centres, and silver discs. Mine are completely black. Is the black on the disc some sort of coating which needs to be removed? If so, with what? meths? white spirit?

Secondly, the two disc boxes are marked left hand / right hand. From what perspective - sitting in the driver's seat, or looking at the car from the front? I'm guessing that left hand means the passenger side?

Here's a pic of the 'right hand' disc to illustrate my two questions:

As you can see from the pic on the box, only the centre of the disc is black. Also, the black coating already has bits missing, so should i try and remove it all? Is this disc the driver's side one?

I've also just noticed that my discs have more than the required 5 wheel bolt holes. Any one else running the ultimax discs, do yours like look mine?

pic above is the drivers side disc, im about 99.1598623749% sure

i do thik the black is the surface coating and ive read somewhere ethanol based solvents are needed to remove it

yeah, got your text. battery's finally gone now, so i couldn't reply.

i reckon that's the driver's side, too

as for the black coating, if it's not meant to come off then there's bits already missing. plus, black discs would look a bit :gay:

i'll get the white spirit out, then off to halfrauds for some copper grease.
