Alright guys!

I've took the dive! :D

I've ordered... Ferodo ds2500's and the LAST TWO 312mm carriers in the country from Sere Motors (Northern Ireland - £165 delivered, which I thought was crackin' - thanks Dave!), in order to get shot of the TOTALLY RUBBISH 288mm set up that Seat so kindly gave the 150bhp deisel lump (idiots!)

My question is now discs?

EBC 312mm plain £73 delivered.
ATE 312mm palin £71 delivered.
ATE Power jobbies £138 delivered (are they any better than plain?)

I'm simply not prepared to spend another £135 in order to get some discs with cuts/holes in them. I'm tempted with the EBC plains but i haven't heard good things re ebc products. Are ATE, in effect, better???

Thanks for any advice in advance...
Rich

ive got crn, cant complain seem good quality. think they are ebc and then grooved or drilled in house or obviously left plain.. but i went for grooved just because i liked the look of them. would of gone for drilled but heard they crack under extreme heat so wasnt so sure about them. i didnt just want to put plain discs back on i wanted to tell they had been changed for something better

To be totally honest I dont think drilled and grooved are worth the extra money, I have heard storries of discs cracking with drilled discs, the pads will also wear quicker and can get noise from the grooves and dilled bits, I want maximum contact area with my pad and disc to create most friction and on the road the drilled and grooved are just not worth it in my opinion other people will like them thats fair enough.

I have the plain EBC disca and happy with them I dont go on track just fast road and with the ds2500's are very good.

With the 312mm discs and carriers do you still use the original 288mm calipers yeah?

I'm thinking about doing the same to my cupra tdi, been offered new calipers, carriers and discs but really I shouldn't need to buy the calipers? I think.....

correct. the carrier mearly places the caliper further away from the centre of the hub; therefore better brakes.

£165 for carriers like! Jesus, with the money its cost me im not far away from a big brake kit!

Im hoping its worth it!
