Got the same problem with my S3 ..... G40 Sensor Incor. Correlation...etc

Has occured after having my CAM belt changed...? Been back to the garage they say that the belt is in the correct position and if it where a tooth out it would be noticable...is this true on the 20V

When i went back to the garage they also tried the sensor replacing it for a new one incase the sensor was dead. Made no differance... ARGHHH and i cant get my car remaped till i fix it !!!!

HELP

when some people fit belts on 20vts they make the mistake of not checking the timing marks after its install and the 20vt engine very regularly moves one tooth on the crank when the tension is introduced, this brings up the sensor fault.
the best way if fitting a belt on a 20vt is to line the mark up on the cam cover with the top pully, mark it twice either side with paint or tipex and to line the timing mark up on the FLYWHEEL to the engine block, this can be seen through the little inspection hole on the bell housing of the gear box, and when it is lined up the crank should be clearly marked (just for reference marks as you should never take tipex or other paint marks as the true timing marks) so you know when its approaching the mark on the crank. then when the your about to install the belt turn the crank anti clock wise to compensate for the movement when the tension is introduced. once this has been done and the belt is in place the tensioner can be positioned and engine turned twice THEN CHECKED WITH THE CAM PULLY TO ROCKER COVER MARKS AND THE FLYWHEEL TO ENGINE BLOCK MARKS. if they are not correct then its time to start again.

Sorry for the thread resurrection but i have this fault code (17748 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Incor. Correlation
P1340 - 35-00 - -
) after changing my brake servo, i did unplug the camshaft sensor when i removed the cam belt cover , and have plugged it back in, can anyone shed any light on what may have caused this, i have been searching hence i found this thread, but all i can find is timing issues but i didn't touch the cam belt.
