Hi all

In the summer I'm hoping to be doing a gumball rally-esqe trip to Spain with 500 other students. I noticed that some of you had done rally sort of things and coud do with your advice. I'm going to get my ibiza fr tdi Revo'd in the near future, but would an FMIC be required to be driving round Spain in August too? Any other modifications i'd need?

Thanks

A FMIC would help as reduces intake temps especially if you are running more power, something I need to do!!

Get the cupra intake pipes and a panel filter from Green or K & N too.

i remember sitting in the car driving to marbella....took two days about 7 hrs a day iirc.....

Yeah fmic is def needed as the increased temps in spain and more power will require cooler intake temps! basically what ad lav said :D

Sounds like fun :D I did a rally last year, and im doing another this year..

You dont NEED a FMIC, but you could do with one! Also uprated brakes if your increasing the power, suspension will then need to be sorted otherwise all that power is wasted on a corner and a new clutch, as map + std clutch = melt!

Just make sure you top up every fluid and if there are a few of the same sorta car going, take spares of bits.. aka boost pipes/clips etc etc.

Most of all have fun!! And laugh at all the petrol's as they pull over every 200 odd miles for fuel :D

Yeah t-spark I saw your pictures! Your car looked really good mate, especially liked that big FR decal. Where was your trip to? Any good stories? Was thinking of leaving my Ibiza and buying a clapped out old Robin Reliant and doing it in that for a laugh lol

I personally wouldnt do that, as I loved the silly mpg I was getting, and the comfort levels (climate control etc etc)

Thanks matey, the car did look the part but is now back to standard(ish!) and going all stealth as I prepare for BIG turbo and a few other goodies... but I have a few more ideas for vinyl's maybe next year! Got to keep the boy racers around my area on their toes :D

The British Speedball Rally 2006 was a rally around europeanland.. basically. London 2 Amsterdam 2 Prague 2 Germany 2 Belgium 2 Devon

Each night we stopped as said location and either got very drunk, or erm... well used some local products bought from Amsterdam! There was only one night in which I didnt, and that was in germany as the day after we were set to go on this iccle public one way toll road.... :p

I have plenty of stories... good on the other hand, well thats for people to decide... one did include not stopping for germany police.. that did mean a blast at 140mph to get to the Czech border before they got something a little faster other than their old skoda chasing me.... la la la....

Many, many more! Harrogate isnt a million miles away matey, so check out the northern region for meets etc and we can chat then! I'd deffo tell anyone that can, to get over the euroland and piss them off :D In a nice way :p

Peace!

I drove to spain in a 2.0 Volvo. Saw plenty of broken down saxos and 206's on the way their also. Took me 15 hours to get to barcelona due to heavy congestion. Great fun driving through french roads though.

I'm going to Spain next month.
Hiring a car once I'm over there though.
Going to the Spanish Grand Prix.
I was trying to get a tour around the Seat factory but there are no tours until July.:(
Might be worth looking into if you are going later in the year.

Going back to the FMIC issue...

If you're going to be driving a remapped TDI in Spain at peak summer temps, and likely to be driving it hard, then I think a FMIC would be an absolute must !

Hi again guys.

Would the seat sport FMIC be sufficient? In contact with a bloke who's got one for sale.

And yeah mattyh87 it is the student breakaway. Not actually got a place yet, still weighing up the costs, but its looking increasingly likely. Looked at the shotgun run as well, but to be honest, that looks bit crap. Bet its full of rah's in daddys audi. Also, driving back from budapest would be awful i think.

T.Spark I'm off to a Leeds meet on the 29th, don't know if you'll be there but i'll definately be doing some other ones come summer time and after exams.

Wheres the seat factory in spain by the way please?

Cheers

I know the person who set up the Shotgun run - and it could well be like that.

Im considering the student Breakaway one too - need to get funds sorted/ team done and ill be there - ill have a FR TDi with a remap too :D - i wont be having an FMIC though - i only can afford a mini-fan at the most at the moment :p

haha i love being a student. spend all my overdraught on beer and remaps lol!

wahay that would be good, 2 fr tdi's with remaps! what colours yours mate? i fancy getting some big decals made if i get a place. t.spark had a big fr badge, might look into something similar. if we dont get a place this year, we'll definately be doing it in 2008.

what gives you that impression about the shotgun run mate?
